Sarah Geronimo named Best Selling Filipino Artist in World Music Awards

                     Sarah Geronimo is one of 20 acts recognized as Best Selling Artists in the 22nd World Music Awards.

Filipina singer Sarah Geronimo was honored during the 22nd edition of the World Music Awards held in Monaco last May 27. 

Sarah won in the Best-selling Filipino Artist category during the star-studded ceremony that took place at the Monte Carlo Sporting Club. 

The Popstar Princess is one of 20 artists from several countries in the world—including the United States, Great Britain, China, and Korea—who received the award.

The World Music Awards, which returns after a three-year hiatus, recognizes the top music acts from around the globe. 

The awarding ceremony featured performances of world-renowned artists including Grammy-winning singer Mariah Carey who received the Pop Icon Award for having sold over 200 million records. She also received a special award for being the Best-selling Singles Artist in America.

Miley Cyrus, who was nominated for 14 categories in total for the ceremony, won Best Pop Video for "Wrecking Ball" and Best Female Act. 

One Direction, the boy band that is slated to perform in the Philippines by 2015, won awards for being the World’s Best-selling Group, World’s Best-selling Pop Act and Best-selling British Act.

Han Geng, who used to be a member of South Korean boy band Super Junior, won the World's Best Male Artist award as voted by fans.  

Meanwhile, the K-pop boy band EXO earned an award for being the Best-selling Korean Act. 

The World Music Awards were founded by Prince Albert II of Monaco in 1989. According to its official website, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) provides the organization with the names of the best-selling artists from the major record buying territories. The world's best-selling recording artists in each category are determined by a thorough inquiry conducted by the organization that includes sales figures and record certifications over the past year.

12-year-old 'KBL' singer wows in 'The Voice'

A 12-year-old from Negros Occidental left everyone in awe after hitting high note after high note on "The Voice Kids" during the show's Blind auditions which aired on Saturday.

Earl Consolacion, who sang Dessa's "Lipad ng Pangarap," was unconvincing at first as neither of the three coaches --Lea Salonga, Bamboo Manalac, and Sarah Geronimo-- looked bent on pressing their respective buttons.

However, as Consolacion nailed the last high note of his performance, Geronimo immediately turned around to welcome the young boy to her team.

The Negros-native further delighted the studio audience and coaches when he was asked where he does his singing. The contestant answered, "KBL" (Kasal, Birthday, at Libing), which prompted Salonga to ask for a "sample."

Consolacion then sang a series of songs --"Patuloy Ang Pangarap," "Kahit Isang Saglit," and "Ikaw" --which made the broadway star regret not pressing the button for the kid when she had the chance.

"Paborito ko 'yung una. Doon ko kasi narinig na hindi ka nahirapan, hindi mahirap pakinggan, hindi masyadong mapwersa yung kanta, and I was like, 'sana yun yung kinanta niya," she said.

To which Manalac added: "Daanin lang 'yan sa practice. Makinig ka sa madaming iba't ibang klasing kanta at dadating din 'yan."

Consolacion was then given his "friendship bracelet," which is a staple for all those who chose to be part of "Team Sarah."

The pop star then explained why she pressed the button: "Narinig ko 'yung boses ko nung bata ako. 'Yung birit na hindi kinakailangan ng malaking ending, doon niya ako nakuha talaga eh."

Pinoy Big Brother: All In housemate Loisa Andalio was given a chance to meet, greet and dance with her ultimate crush, Daniel Padilla.

In the May 29, 2014 episode of the country’s highly anticipated reality show, the remaining housemates were able to pass the weekly task and as a reward, Loisa has been given the chance to personally meet her crush.

But instead of Daniel Padilla himself to enter the house, Fifth Pugotan was asked by Big Brother (Kuya) to dressed like the 17-year-old young actor.

Dubbed as the “Talented Darling ng Pasay,” Loisa Andallio and other housemates went on yelling upon seeing Fifth Pugotan whose wearing a mask of Daniel Padilla at the time.

The housemates at first thought that it was really the “She’s Dating The Gangster” star who visited Loisa and the housemates. Fifth Pugotan who appeared to be Daniel Padilla surprise other housemates dancing to the beat of the actor’s phenomenal single, “Nasa ‘Yo Na Ang Lahat.”

Fifth Pugotan who assumed to be Daniel Padilla then went on saying: “Mahal ko si Loisa, Mahal ko si Loisa,” which made the scene more romantic and complete.

Loisa Andalio who earlier admitted having a crush with Daniel Padilla debuted in showbiz via teenage girl group, 3G.

Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez will be working together again in GMA’s newest soap opera entitled “My Destiny” after their last appearance in the controversial series “My Husband’s Lover”.

In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal (pep.ph), the 27-year-old actress was asked about her condition following her break-up with actor Geoff Eigenmann.

Carla Abella said that she is okay and she is happy with her life now but she admitted there are times that she remembered their past romance.

“May mga times siyempre na tatamaan ka pa rin. May mga times na hindi mo mapipigilang maalala ang mga bagay-bagay, ganyan,” she said.

Asked if Tom Rodriguez was the one who was helping her to move on, Carla Abellana said that he is helping in many ways but not in forgetting her past.

She also laughed when she was asked if it is possible to her to fall in love with him since most of the showbiz couple started their relationship through working together. “Tanungin n’yo siya! Siya na lang ang tanungin n’yo,” she said.

Carla Abellana added that their focus is on their soap because it’s a blessing and opportunity for them to be able to work in a series again.

Aside from her new soap, Carla Abellana will be working also for GMA sitcom “Small Family” with actor-host Ryan Agoncillo.

The popular groups which made name in local show business industry in 1990′s showcase their remarkable dance moves as they opened the noontime show.

The Maneuvers, Universal Motion Dancers and SexBomb Girls was joined by Vice Ganda as they performed their renowned dance hits including “Macarena,” “Always” and hit single “Spaghetti.”

The opening number of the popular dancers brought cheers and amazement to the studio audience (madlang people) whose more excited for their appearance on the show.

The Maneuvers came to prominence for their most notable concert appearances including their stint with Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano as he held concert in the mid 1990′s

The Universal Motion Dancers on the other hand, rose to fame featuring its powerhouse members consist of Wowie de Guzman, Brian Furlow, Jim Salas, James Salas, Gerard Faisan, Marco McKinley, Norman Santos and Gerry Oliva.

SexBomb dancers made a name in showbiz through popularizing renowned dance hits such as “Spaghetti Song,” “Bakit Papa” and among others. The all-female dance became more popular for their chant, “Get, get aww!”

The girl group is a mainstay on GMA-7 variety show, “Sunday All Stars” and some of their members also appear on Banana Spit on ABS-CBN.

Daniella Barretto also reacted on the controversial tweet of Atty. Ferdinand Topacio. The Twitter post read: “Year of the Horse nga pala. This could be Danni Barretto’s year…”

“Call me a horse all you want, ask your people to keep bashing me, I don’t care. Because the people can now see, who they should believe,” Daniella Barretto wrote in response to the statement of Claudine Barretto’s lawyer.

“Iba na mga bashers ngayon. They think they know your life better than you. HAHAHAHAHHAA,” Daniella Barretto added.

She said that she is glad because the management and ABS-CBN noticed them and for trusting them for very big project.

Coco Martin Disbeliefs ‘Maybe This Time’ Success! Know His Reasons Here!

Kapamilya Primetime King Coco Martin is still in disbelief the success of his romantic film “Maybe This Time” with leading lady Sarah Geronimo which was released on Wedesday May 28, 2014.

The multi-awarded actor admitted that he avoided the results and feedback about the performance of the film on the first day. He said that he felt nervous deep inside.

But when he learned that many people have watched the film, he felt so much happiness. He cannot believe that the film would be a great hit to the public.

“Kumbaga, hindi ako makapaniwala. Hanggang sa bahay, pagdating ko, halos ‘di ako makatulog, e. Kaya nga sabi ko, hindi nila alam kung gaano ako kaligaya. Hindi ko inakala na makakagawa ng ganito kagandang pelikula,” he told the reporters.

Star Cinema’s advertising and promotions manager Mico Del Rosario that the movie has earned 20 million pesos on the first day of showing. He confirmed in his official Instagram account.

The 32-year old actor was asked if why was the movie is a big hit to others, Coco Martin said that the concept is good and the casts. It also gives inspiration and lessons to the viewers.

It centers the story of Steph Asuncion (Sarah Geronimo) and Toni Bugayong (Coco Martin) who once had a romantic relationship and meet again after long years when Toni leaves Steph.

“Maybe This Time”, directed by the box-office director Jerry Lopez Sineneng is still showing on more than 180 cinemas nationwide.

Teen star Daniel Padilla has nothing but praise for his rumored girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo, and that working with the actress and other names in the industry has been a learning experience.

Speaking with ABS-CBN's Marie Lozano, the 19-year-old actor said that while he is often hailed as the "teen king" of the industry, he is a far from a finished product.

"Ako talagang kailangan kong galingan at pagtrabahuhan pa ang acting ko at mas mahalin pa ang trabaho kasi gusto ko talaga [maging] maganda 'yung movie," he said, referring to his upcoming film, "She's Dating A Gangster."

The latest of the Star Cinema offerings, which is based on a book of the same name, will again reunite Padilla with his "Got To Believe" leading lady.

Padilla hopes that the film will be able to replicate the success of their love team's past outings, which has all been commercially successful.

The horror film, "Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay," their second big screen tandem, was among the most-watched movies in the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival.

"Ayaw ko masayang 'yung kagalingan ng mga katrabaho at ibang kasama ko," he said.

Padilla added he is glad to be working again with director Cathy Garcia-Molina, who was at the helm of their highly-successful television series.

"Ako pinagdadasal ko lang na sana 'yung movie maganda. Unang una direktor namin si Ms. Cathy. Tapos si Kathryn pa 'yung artista, eh si Kathryn naman, kahit may kailangan pang patunayan, eh magaling siya na artista," he said.

She’s Dating the Gangster, written by Bianca Bernardino, is a story about two teenagers, Athena Dizon and Kenji de los Reyes, whose pretend relationship eventually turns into something deeper.

While no official release date has been confirmed for the movie as of posting, Padilla teased that it may come out in July.

Kapamilya actor-comedian Vice Ganda entertained the audiences of ABS-CBN’s noon time show “It’s Showtime” as he impersonated his “asawa” the Queen of All Media Kris Aquino on Friday May 30, 2014.

During the “Mini Me” segment of the noon time show, the Box-office actor reacted to a fly as he was his “Sisterakas” co-star. He followed Kris Aquino’s speech and imitated his hand and body gestures.

The audiences burst into laughter again as she followed the awkward dance steps of actress, who is a self-confessed “non-dancer”,  during her Zumba lessons with G-force for her morning show “Kris TV”.

Asked by Vhong Navarro if why he danced like that, the 38-year-old actor replied while copying Kris Aquino: “Iba ang zumba ni Kris, finiture nila sa “Kris TV”  sabi nya, ay nako parang it’s hard naman, Ok let’s try Darla, ang hirap.”

“Maybe This Time” star Sarah Geronimo, who guested on the show to promote her film, was heard laughing out loud while Vice Ganda impersonates Kris Aquino.

Vice Ganda is not new in impersonating TV personalities, he also copied the actress-model Solenn Heusaff in the noon time show and he even imitated Solenn’s hair style.

“Sobra kong nilu-look forward ang mag-guest dito sa ‘It’s Showtime’ para ma-meet ko ang madlang people. Sana manood kayo ng ‘Da Possessed’ siyempre yun ang comeback movie ni Vhong Navarro under Star Cinema,” he said while impersonating the 28-year-old star.

Paul Jake Castillo is the ex-boyfriend of the former Star Circle Quest finalist while Kaye Abad came from a relationship with actor-model Guji Lorenzana.

‘May kutob na ako na mangyayari ‘yan eventually so ako naman, I just wish them the best. Hindi na ako nagulat,” she said in interview with PEP.ph. “Lahat na lang tayo maging masaya, wag na tayong maging bad vibes. Ayoko nang pahabain, hayaan na lang natin na ganun,” she added.

Almost nine months since Melissa Ricks and Paul Jake broke up and according to her, she is not affected seeing his ex-boyfriend indulging into anew romance.

During the interview, 24-year-old former Honesta star noted that she even had a group date with Kaye Abad and Guji Lorenzana.

“Ganun talaga ang buhay ngayon, nowadays, ganun talaga. Artista naman tayo, switch-switch, pass-pass,” Melissa Ricks stressed.

Kaye Abad herself confirmed that she is indeed in a relationship with the Cebu-based businessman. She announced her romance with Paul Jake Castillo through a text message she sent to entertainment columnist Darla Sauler.

A “sad” Vice Ganda went emotional on Friday, May 30, 2014 as he apologized for being absent on ABS-CBN top-rating noontime program “It’s Showtime” on Thursday.

According to the 38-year-old comedian-TV host, he decided not to attend on the show because something bothers him.

Some speculations arise that the “something” he is going through is in relation with his previous breakup. However, he did not mention anything about heartache. The blockbuster comedian then express his gratitude to his fans and supporters including his fellow hosts.

PBA rising star Terrence Romeo was even dragged on the pressing breakup issue of Vice Ganda. However, he denies having a relationship with the “It’s Showtime” co-host.

“Pero ito lang ha, linawin ko lang, kasi araw-araw sinasabi natin dapat masaya, dapat maingay, dapat tumatawa. Kahapon, na-realize ko wala namang masama kung paminsan-minsan ay umiyak. Kasi yun ang realidad, hindi araw-araw ay tumatawa tayo.”

Charice Pempengco has gave her message to her consistent bashers who continues to criticize her because of her new look and repertoire.

The 22-year-old phenomenal singer who came to prominence for belting out powerful songs by Whitney Houston and Celine Dion.

In her recent concert in the United States, Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco or popularly known as Charice chose to perform R&B songs.

“I’m not going to lie about it. I expected that. But I’m not sorry that they left because I’m not sorry of being true to myself. If they left, it just means that they did not support me because of my music,” the renowned Filipino singer told ABS-CBNnews.com.

Charice Pempengco  noted that those who stayed and supported her are her “true fans.” Prior to belting out high songs, she added that she will be making renditions of popular hit songs she used to sing before on her upcoming shows and concerts.

Charice Pempengco is currently gearing up for her upcoming concert along with other popular and foreign stars this coming June 15, 2014 in US which will benefit the victims and survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan)

“I want to conquer the world and I’ll be honest to say that I would not able to reach if I will stay and only impress Filipinos. I am changing as an artist,” she relates.

“Thank you. Thank you for hurting me, for giving me pain… Because it makes me stronger,” she said when asked about her message to her bashers. “That’s what I need. I have hope that despite some people bashing me, there are more of them who love me,” she added.

Singer-songwriter Sheryn Regis has issued an official statement regarding her pressing controversy linking her to a certain Emy Madrigal.

The 33-year-old former Star in a Million first runner-up finally broke her silence amid rumors of relationship with a businesswoman who claimed having an affair with the “Come in Out of the Rain”  hitmaker.

Dubbed as the “Crystal Voice of Asia” the television series singer was reportedly the one who court the girl. She also stressed having a strong relationship with her husband Earl.

The singer who now resides in United States set her official statement to refute rumors of romance linking her to Emy Madrigal through the Philippine Entertainment Portal.

Here’s the official statement of Sheryn Regis:

“I would have chosen to ignore and keep silent about this unbelievable issue but I do have a family and I believe I have to be fair to them. To start with, everyone knew how I began in the industry, followed my career until I decided to migrate in the United States in 2010 to concentrate with my own family. I am very fortunate enough to have a loving husband and blessed enough to have a wonderful daughter. I don’t have any regrets and I will continue to be thankful to the Lord for giving me such a quiet and contented life.”

“Alam ko sa puso ko kung ano ang responsibilidad ko bilang isang ina sa pagpapalaki ng aking nag-iisang anak. Tinanggap ko maging katuwang ng aking asawa sa paghahanapbuhay. For the record Tito Earl has a job in the U.S. until now contrary to the allegations that he is jobless.”

“Moreover, I am proud to say na hindi ako nakakalimot sa aking responsibilidad bilang  anak. I started going back to the Philippines since 2012 to be with my parents and spend my vacation. I am very blessed because whenever I’m in the country, I still receive bookings and attend various guestings and for this I am truly grateful for the fans and for those who supported me from the very start. Whatever I earned from those projects, lahat pinaghirapan.”

“It is not my personality to get what I want at the expense of other people. I do not ‘use’ people nor will I allow myself to be used. Hindi ako pinalaki ng magulang ko para manira, manggamit, at manloko ng ibang tao.”

“As regards to the gossips about me, this is all I can say, as we all know, being part of this entertainment industry would subject us to all kinds of defamatory issues. I cannot please everybody.
