JC de Vera considers his co-stars in "The Legal Wife" an inspiration, admitting he still has much to prove as an actor.
The top-rating series, which will air its final episode on June 13, is top-billed by Angel Locsin, Maja Salvador, and Jericho Rosales, whose respective careers have each earned them awards in the industry.
In a live interview on "Aquino & Abunda" on Monday, de Vera was asked how he handles scenes with his fellow lead stars.
"Sila 'yung inspiration ko. Kung hindi dahil sa kanila, hindi rin ako makakasabay sa kanila," de Vera said.
"Dahil very powerful 'yung cast, very outstanding actors itong mga kasama ko, wala akong choice kung hindi sabayan sila. Kasi pag hindi ako sumabay, siyempre malalaglag din ako," he added.
Going daring
De Vera juggles "The Legal Wife" with another ABS-CBN series, "Moon of Desire," where he plays the lead actor opposite actress Meg Imperial.
"Doon sa dalawang show, magkaiba talaga 'yung atake," he said.
The 28-year-old actor explained that he sees his character in "Moon of Desire," Jeff, as a creation to facilitate the story.
Max, his "The Legal Wife" role, on the other hand, is based on real people with similar struggles.
Asked if he is willing to go more daring in "Moon of Desire," where he is often seen shirtless, de Vera said, "Depende po kung saan dadalhin ng story."
"Malaki po ang tiwala ko sa mga directors. As long as hinihingi siya nung character. Pero pag sinabi lang na for the sake na makapaghubad, siguro hindi," he said.
As to whether frontal nudity is something he will ever do onscreen, de Vera said, "Not now, [but] I am not closing my doors."
