MANILA - The premiere telecast of the much-anticipated second season of "The Voice" in the country easily dominated conversations on Twitter on Saturday, as the first batch of talented kids faced the Blind Auditions.
During debut episode of "The Voice Kids," followers of the program were quick to praise the talent on display with all of the contestants' names making it to the micro-blogging site's list of worldwide trends.
One contestant, in particular, sang his way into the hearts of many netizens early on, with his rendition of Journey's classic "Faithfully."
Jimlord Garcia, who hails from Tarlac City, convinced all three judges --Lea Salonga, Bamboo, and Sarah Geronimo--to turn their chairs, which eventually earned him a spot in Salonga's team.
Dubbed "Team Lea," it was also the preferred choice of two other contestants, namely 11-year-old Jomaku Luy and "Girl on Fire" Darlene Vibares. The 10-year-old charmed everyone with her energetic cover of Alicia Keys' recent hit, earning her the night's second three-chair turn.
Grazziana Enriquez and twins Juan Miguel and Juan Carlos Urquico also impressed coaches with their performances, as they were taken in by Bamboo and Geronimo, respectively.
The only casualty of the night was 11-year-old Don Wilson, who did his best impression of Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel."
Wilson failed to pass his audition but won the sympathy of netizens as his name also made it as one of the worldwide trends on Twitter.
In one of the most touching moments of the night, Bamboo approached Wilson, who was in tears, and sang a duet of Jackson's other classic "Man in the Mirror.""Sa buhay hindi madali lahat. We get better because of that. Cheer up," said Bamboo.
