MANILA - Comedienne Pokwang and showbiz newcomer Ellen Adarna will topbill a film inspired by the hit drama series "The Legal Wife," with Zanjoe Marudo as the clueless husband caught in between.
The film was first announced in April by Skylight Films and Star Cinema. At the time, only Pokwang and Marudo were introduced as part of the cast, and the movie was only described as a romantic-comedy.
On Friday, Star Cinema, on its official website, finally announced the movie's title, "My Illegal Wife," in reference to the ongoing top-rater starring Angel Locsin and Maja Salvador.
"My Illegal Wife" centers on Henry (Marudo) as he wakes up with amnesia. He is greeted by Clarisse (Pokwang), who introduces herself as his wife -- only this isn't true.
Adarna's role has yet to be detailed, but in an Instagram post, the "Moon of Desire" actress shared a photo of her with Marudo apparently in bed.
The same photo also shows Adarna and her co-stars in a promotional image inspired by the campaign of "The Legal Wife" leading up to its premiere early this year.
Directed by Tony Reyes, "My Illegal Wife" will hit theaters on June 11.
