Former beauty pageant contestant Roxanne Cabanero said she is proud of Deniece Cornejo for being able to keep a positive outlook in life despite the legal battles she’s currently embroiled in involving actor-host Vhong Navarro.
In an interview with “The Buzz” when Cornejo celebrated her birthday last June 1, Cabanero said she can feel that the 23-year-old model is happy and strong.
“I can see it in your eyes that you’re very positive with what’s going on even though it’s really hard. Mahirap pero I can say na she’s really strong. I’m proud of you,” she said.
Cabanero, who like Cornejo accused Navarro of rape, said she remains hopeful that justice will be served for both of them.
“Sana makamit natin 'yung hustisya na matagal na natin gustong makamit. Be strong. And I’m actually happy that you’re happy,” she said.
Cornejo celebrated her birthday with around 20 guests, including relatives and family members.
Asked of her birthday wish, Cornejo said: “Gusto ko maging masaya ulit. Gusto ko ipagpatuloy 'yung plano ko sa buhay ko na maganda. Gusto ko ipagpatuloy 'yung gusto kong mensahe, gusto kong gawin para sa society and para sa mga taong nangangailangan ng tulong mo.”
Cornejo, along with her co-accused in the January 22 mauling of Navarro, are currently facing trial for the serious illegal detention charge filed by the actor against them.
